Actually we are always saying to our kids if you say no, your behavior is inappropriate and impolite. If you say no to your mother, father, sister, teacher and so on, you will be certainly considered for being rude, and most probably every one start mentioning you for this no. Saying no is beyond ethic limits, while saying yes is being polite and likable to say. So, from childhood we are giving them a belief of saying no. We associate no with being disliked, bad mannered, unkind and selfish.
On the other side, saying no doesn't mean if you can help other, then just say no. Then you will be rude, unkind and selfish. Help others beyond your limits, Allah will bless you beyond your Expectations. If you can do something then do it, don't think much about that.
Your self -worth does not depend on how much you do for other people.
On the other side realize that you are valuable. Choose your opinion about yourself over others. Don't let others to impose their opinions on you. This is a point where you should say no. You are unique, valuable and equally important. No one in this world can offer what you can.
